MoodStream Takes You There - A New Way To Build Mood Boards

Why am I always the last person to find something? Perhaps it's because I'm just too dang busy most of the time. When I get a day of reprieve, I spend it searching the web for every morsel of goodness that I left behind in the demands of my day-to-day. In my heart, I'm an innovator. I'm a single celled creature that loves to create, to think, to design and so much more.

And speaking of great design, enter Barbarian Group's Getty Image MoodStream. Much like Pandora allows a user to set the tone of what they listen to (resulting in a personalized radio station to fit their mood), MoodStream feeds the user a series of photos and accompanying music that aligns with their mood. Oh, but it has more applications than a simple foray here and there. This is big-time. Imagine sitting across the table with a client and asking them to define the tone of their brand. Not in words, but in music and in pictures. You see, this is a way more tangible way of expressing an idea or concept because it's not based in a single image or a single sound...and not even in a single word. It's a collection. A series of descriptors that help to define something that is nearly illusive.

So use it, abuse it. Heck, you might even find that you want to make client mood boards out of it. Could be a better way to search for stuff that simply unleashing an intern to surf the web. Lastly, I'm thinking about using it as a piece of living art. Like a TV that's just on or perhaps like some fish swimming in a tank...I'm going to use it for creative fodder.

Enjoy.
